Having received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and having been baptized as a believer, and being in agreement with the First Baptist Church of Boardman, Oregon in its Constitution and Bylaws, Statement of Faith, mission and structure, I have been led by the Holy Spirit to serve in membership with this church family. In doing so, I commit myself to God and to the other members of this family to do the following:
- Knowing unity in the Church is a necessity, I will strive for unity:
- By following Jesus Christ and honoring the God-given leadership of this body of believers.
- By humbling myself and acting in love toward other members.
- By refraining from gossip and instead seeking to build one another up in love. (1)
- Being aware that membership calls us to responsibility, I will serve the Church:
- By my ongoing prayers for our fellowship, for missions and for Christian ministries.
- By sharing my faith and testimony and reaching out with the message of the Gospel.
- By warmly welcoming those who come and by sharing Jesus Christ’s love to all. (2)
- Knowing that a successful church demands the Spirit’s leading, I will surrender myself:
- By using my God-given gifts and offering my talents to serve Jesus Christ in all I do
- By allowing myself to be equipped by our pastor, elders and teachers
- By following the Holy Spirit’s leading to step out in faith as I trust Him for guidance in all I do. (3)
- Being aware that a vibrant church requires a united team effort, I will do my part:
- By faithfully attending meetings, by helping and serving and by encouraging those I serve with.
- By working well with others as we work together for the purposes of the church and the Kingdom of God.
- By faithfully giving of my gifts, time and resources to fill my role by serving as the body needs and the Spirit leads. (4)
- 3Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. — Philippians 2:3-4 (ESV)
12 We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, 13 and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. — 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 - 27Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel. — Philippians 1:27
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” — John 13:34-35 - 12Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. — Colossians 3:12-13
8 Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. — 1 Peter 3:8 - 24And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. — Hebrews 10:24-25
10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. — Malachi 3:1
